Artist Statement



Nadine Sures is an interdisciplinary artist and performer currently living and working in Montreal and Beirut. She studied theatre at the University of Alberta in Edmonton where she received a BFA in acting in 1999. After a brief collaboration with Les Wacs physical theatre troupe in Paris, France, she established herself in Montreal where she co-founded the Quebec Interdisciplinary Arts Network (RAIQ) with a group of local artists and cultural workers. Her own creations have been presented in Canada, Europe and the Middle East. As a performer Nadine has worked for directors/choreographers Leslie Baker, Nathalie Claude, Deborah Dunn, Bill Glassco and Jean-St├ęphane Roy (Montreal Young Company), Emily Johnson (Catalyst Dances, Minneapolis), Pamela Newell, Robin Poitras, Lin Snelling, and has studied with Action Theatre master Ruth Zaporah. Nadine has been showcased in the solo The Wild Girl of Champagne by Deborah Dunn in Montreal, Halifax, Regina and Minneapolis. In 2009 she presented her interactive performance and video installation Stitches and Bitches to a vast audience in Beirut, Lebanon. Her newest theatre solo Vita Brevis is being produced in Montreal in 2010.
